Graduation of the ONA Management Development Programme

The graduation ceremony of the first edition of the ONA Management Development Programme, an in-company programme specifically developed for the ONA Group, took place at the Aula Magna at the end of April. To underline the importance of this programme to ONA Group, Bendidi, President and CEO of ONA Group, came to Madrid to hand out the certificates to the participants together with our Dean Santiago Iñiguez.

Last December, Instituto de Empresa had launched this training programme for the senior management team of ONA Group, the largest private industrial and financial holding in Morocco. This programme was the first in a series of activities in the field of research and training to emerge from the relationship between IE and the ONA Group. The programme was comprised of three modules, two of which took place at the IE campus in Madrid and the other in Marrakech, Morocco. Participants of the programme included Moroccan executives with extensive professional experience in the different corporate sectors of the ONA Group.

The programme was designed to foster leadership and people management skills, and broaden corporate management perspectives of the Moroccan senior managers. Participants developed their vision and capacity for strategic analysis, and examined the latest trends in management tools. "This programme is the first that IE has delivered in the Magreb", said Santiago Íñiguez, "and we are delighted to initiate this project with the largest business
group in the region". Alfonso Martínez de Irujo, President of Executive Education at IE, added "It is an honour to have been chosen by a company whose key objective is to equip its managers to meet the challenges involved in the group's growth and international expansion. IE has worked for many months on the design and adaptation of a programme that is fine-tuned to meet the needs of senior directors in Morocco."

The ONA Group is a reference for modernisation of the Moroccan economy. The group employs 25,000 people, and together with its subsidiaries comprises more than 60% of the Casablanca stock exchange. The sectors in which it currently operates include mining, food, agriculture, banking, transport, distribution of sea produce, real estate, tourism, insurance, financial investment, and commercial and industrial firms that export Moroccan products.

Inauguration of the Deutsche Telekom Professional
Development Programme – CEO

The Deutsche Telekom Professional Development Programme CEO was inaugurated by Kai-Uwe Ricke, CEO of Deutsche Telekom, with an opening speech in Bonn on 19 June. Joaquín Uríbarri, Director of Admissions and Marketing of Executive Education at IE, and Professor David Allen, Academic Director of the programme, also welcomed the participants to the Instituto de Empresa and highlighted the main aspects of the development programme designed jointly by IE and Deutsche Telekom..

After having considered a group of top business schools including LBS and IMD, Deutsche Telekom decided to collaborate with Instituto de Empresa to design and carry out this ambitious and high profile programme. CEO is tailored for top managers and key talent from the CEO Department of Deutsche Telekom in Bonn.

The programme consists of 20 training days divided into six residential modules and will last until July 2007, a total period of 13 months. This programme will be delivered with the collaboration of Chicago GSB, who will be responsible for four of the teaching days. This collaboration also enables the programme to be held both at the campus of IE in Madrid and at Chicago GSB in London.

All the participants have undergone a severe selection process within DT, to ensure a high level of motivation and commitment among the group of participants. Regarding the contents of the programme, this PDP will be focused on Strategic Management, Marketing and Financial Management. Working in groups the participants also will develop a business project related to real DT initiatives, which will be presented to DT senior management at the end of the course. These projects will be guided by IE tutors through its online platform, a tool that will enhance the flexibility and interactivity of the programme.
