AA offers Alumni worldwide online
conferences & programmes for members
Last quarter, the Alumni Association once again organized online conferences and programmes in which
alumni from around the world participated. Complementing the rest of the range of activities, Online
training is part of the AA’s drive to offer Associated members continuous training, taking advantage of
Internet technology to especially reach those alumni who are not living in Madrid, and in the case of the
conferences, are not native Spanish speakers.
Organized with Executive Education and coordinated with E-learning, Online activities are available as
single-session Conferences and two-week (on average) Programmes, offered by professors expert in their
given subjects.
Online Conferences
In mid February, during this quarter’s first online conference, Dimo Dimov, professor
of Entrepreneurship at IE, looked at Generating, Assessing, and Shaping Opportunity Ideas. He
approached the following topics: understand and harness various sources of ideas; understand the social
process through which ideas are developed; assess your ideas even before thinking about a business
plan.

Multimedia
documentation: new business cases, interactive & simulated,
available on the aa web
On the Alumni Association Web (http://alumni.ie.edu), the Multimedia Documentation area now has new
interactive and simulated business cases. This service complements the already ample offer, added to
almost daily by the AA.
Online Programmes
Regarding the online programmes, the month of January saw Professor Ignacio de la Vega, Director of
International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Ventures Development and Director of Strategic Development
at IE, open the calendar with How to Build a Business Plan, in English. Participants learnt to:
• precisely describe the business opportunity, within the appropriate market and segment;
• develop a corresponding business plan including economic and financial requirements, and forecasted
results;
• understand the keys to accurate market analysis that studies players such as clients, providers,
competitors;
• design strategies for product, operations, sales, marketing/ promotion, as well as for HR;
“Remember to put yourself in the place of the potential investor to best answer possible concerns.”,
stressed Professor Vega.
The Online methodology is providing continuous access to a learning community where interaction is constant
between participants and professors. These programmes are developed within IE’s virtual campus, based on
a model that assures maximum potential for alumni.
Thanks to these initiatives, the Association is providing alumni with an opportunity to continually update
their market knowledge, business know-how and management skills. Above all, this is yet another place to
share professional experiences.
The great satisfaction shown by alumni for the Online activities has helped to plan future Conferences
and Programmes Online, such as:
• Conferences: Diversity, Operations, Finance, Strategy, Marketing.
• Programmes: Managing Teams, Write a Marketing Plan, Strategy, Leadership.
