The ‘Academy’ [of Management Online] site is always a good place to start, read some of the latest
news in our field, and of course find out all the relevant information regarding our yearly meetings.
You also can search for a colleague, or connect to some of the top journals in our field.
This site helps me get around. It was also quite instrumental in searching
for an apartment when I was moving to Spain. Browsing on the ‘callejero fotográfico’ was a great
introduction to the streets of Madrid neighbourhoods: you can actually see the specific building
you are thinking of moving to. Today, before heading to a new part of town, qdq is always where I
start from.
This is a great resource for both teaching and research in the area of careers. You can find interesting
reports and statistics on jobs, organizations and industry data. Or search information on other business
schools around the world. Our students find this a good resource especially during their job and career
searches!
A very good place to read interesting articles not only about HR, but also on any other area, from Finance
to Business Ethics. It is a bi-weekly online resource that offers latest business insights, information and
research from various sources. You can search the database by keywords, authors etc. Keep on learning….
A very interesting concept and useful place to get information, with some caution of course. Visitors can
alter entries, by adding to or deleting existing information. So, this can be a good place to get some basic
references and facts, but do not believe everything it says! You also can search wikipedia in several
languages, but English entries are the most common.
Discovering Madrid, one of my favourite things, is a never ending adventure. Together with ‘Guía del
Ocio’, this site can give you some tips on cool new places to visit, amazing restaurants and cultural
events in Madrid or Barcelona. I must confess however, I like to get printed versions of these guides as well!
Every once in a while it is nice to go back to Canadian content. One of Canada’s major
newspapers keeps me up-to-date on events back in Toronto. I am often curious to check the latest news,
such as reports on the recent elections, but also simply to see the temperature differences.
This regular section in the Wall Street Journal is a nice way to learn to about recent
studies and interesting articles that are relevant to all of us. Topics covered range from employers’
perspectives on hiring, to tips for better career self-management, and ways for achieving better work-life
balance.
We always dream of new places… This portal for expatriates and prospective newcomers includes a
comprehensive multilingual guide covering topics such as immigration, job permits, telecommunication
services, banking, taxation, health care, education, travel, etc. The site started in Spain and today
offers 15 guides including Germany, U.K., Italy, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, Australia…
This is a Web site of an island/coast where I find my peace. It is also an important part
of my past that I recently rediscovered. The Adriatic coast and its islands are some of my favourite
vacation spots. No description necessary… you simply have to see it.
