El claustro del Instituto de Empresa cuenta con un nuevo doctor
Javier Vega, profesor del área de Dirección Financiera, defendió el pasado 21 de octubre su Tesis
Doctoral en la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas de la Universidad Complutense, obteniendo la máxima
calificación por unanimidad.
Bajo el título El Concepto de Valor y su Aplicación a las Finanzas de Empresa, la tesis ofrece una
visión de conjunto de la metodología que se aplica en la valoración de empresas, haciendo especial
énfasis en los procedimientos que utilizan el descuento de rentas para calcular el valor actual.
La tesis incluye cinco capítulos que desarrollan el tema desde diferentes perspectivas:
evolución histórica de las teorías del valor, coherencia e integración de los diferentes
modelos aparecidos en el siglo XX, valoración de instituciones financieras, modelos de creación
de valor y valoración de empresas que no encuentran referentes en el mercado.

Jennifer Aquino will be Managing Director for the International MBA at Instituto de
Empresa. A native of the United States, Jennifer received degrees in Biology (+ pre-medical studies) and
Spanish from Boston College, and studied for her Masters Degree in Spanish in the College of Arts and
Sciences at Harvard University and at Middlebury College in Vermont and Madrid. She received an MA from
Middlebury College. Jennifer came to IE from Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts where she directed
and managed the Education Abroad office as Director, Education Abroad. In her three years there, Bentley
Education Abroad programs grew exponentially ultimately sending the highest percentage of students
abroad from any US business school. She was also the Associate Director of the Cronin International
Center. Aside from managing international partnerships, exchanges, long-term and short-term study abroad
opportunities for students at Bentley, Jennifer also managed faculty-led short-term programmes as well as
international alumni coordination. Prior to working at Bentley College, Jennifer worked as an Editor of
Spanish university textbooks at Heinle and Heinle, and as an Educational Consultant in Modern Languages and Sciences for HRW.
Waya Quiviger joined the Instituto de Empresa as Managing Director of the International MBA program in October 2003. She is responsible for the Global Affairs Forum, an ongoing seminar that provides International MBA students with an overview of some of the global issues that impact business decision-making. Together with business, government and civil society
speakers, students explore potential solutions to these global challenges. In addition, Waya will be coordinating the new Social Entrepreneurship Track for the MBA and International MBA
students. This track aims to promote social entrepreneurship and projects with a social value within the student community. Waya holds a Master’s in Management from the Hautes Ecoles Commerciales (HEC) and a Master’s in Politics of the World Economy from the London School of Economics. Prior to joining IE, she worked for the World Economic Forum in Geneva, Switzerland.
